Al-Hilal coach rules out move for Mohamed Salah

Al Hilal head coach Jorge Jesus gave a definitive statement regarding their rumoured move for Mohamed Salah.

Al Hilal's head coach, Jorge Jesus, has ruled out a possible move for Mohamed Salah this January transfer window; however, he suggested that they will return for him in the summer.

Salah's situation

The 32-year-old was initially linked with a move to the Blue Waves a few transfer windows ago, but he signed a contract renewal with the Reds.

However, his last extension is set to expire this season, and he has been public about the lack of progress in talks for a renewal. Salah himself has stated that this would be his last season at the Kop, at least as things stand, opening up fresh talks about his future.

Suitors from Saudi are believed to be the most keen, and it was suggested that they could come for him this winter instead of waiting to snap him up for free next summer. However, Jesus has dispelled the notion.

What he said

Despite their success in the Saudi Pro League and AFC Champions League, Al Hilal have been handicapped, at least compared to the other three PIF-backed clubs.

Their superstar signing, Neymar, has been out for most of it due to injury, and according to Jesus, they do not count on him for the rest of the league season.

According to reports, they are looking to bring in a new superstar, and Salah is seen as the preferred candidate. However, according to the Portuguese coach, it will not happen this January.

"Salah or other big names won't come this winter... but maybe this summer," Jesus told reporters, following their 9-0 demolition of Al-Fateh.
