Jack Smith was handling Donald Trump's case of alleged mishandling of confidential documents after he left office and his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 election which he contested and lost.

However, after Donald Trump won the 2024 elections, Smith dropped all the charges against the president-elect.

According to the real team of Smith, the cases against Trump were valid but they could not pursue them in view of Trump's impeding return to the Presidency.
