Forest slap ₦37 billion price tag on Taiwo Awoniyi amid West Ham interest

West Ham have reportedly been informed of the amount to pay for Taiwo Awoniyi.

West Ham United are reportedly in contact with Nottingham Forest over the transfer of Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi this January transfer window.

Awoniyi linked with exit

The 27-year-old moved to the City Ground in the summer of 2022 for a deal worth a reported €20 million. He was immense in his first season, helping the Tricky Trees maintain their Premier League status, but even in that campaign in which he scored 10 league goals, he struggled to stay fit.

It continued last season and he played even less than his first year at Forest, and this term, he has lost his place in the team to the on-form Chris Wood, whose goals have made Nuno Espirito Santo's side unlikely contenders for the Premier League title.

Awoniyi has only started two league games this season, amassing 218 minutes in total, and it is unlikely his situation will change; hence, he has been linked with an exit from the club.

The details

According to Sun's Jack Rosser, West Ham, who are short in the striker department after Michail Antonio's unfortunate injury ruled him out of action, are interested in a move for Awoniyi.

Per the report, the Hammers were initially considering a loan move but are now discussing a permanent transfer. However, Forest are said to be holding out for a €20 million fee, an amount West Ham are wary about matching.
