Police are hunting for suspects involved in torching a Perodua Axia that belonged to a Nigerian man at Seksyen U4, Shah Alam in Malaysia.
Sungai Buloh police chief Hafiz Nor said an investigation paper had been opened after the victim, 39, lodged a report at 2.19pm on Monday.
Hafiz said the man had parked his car at a parking lot in the area at about 10.17am on Sunday, January 12, to shoot a TikTok video nearby.
He found the car ablaze when he returned at 1.05pm.
"The fire and rescue department's forensic unit is also carrying out their own investigation to determine the cause of the fire," he said.
He added that police are investigating the case under Section 435 of the Penal Code for arson, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years and a fine, upon conviction.
In a video sighted online, the Nigerian man is heard lamenting over the loss, saying his passport and other valuables are inside the car.
