In a recent report on Arise TV, the escalating wave of insecurity in the Southeast, particularly in Anambra State, has reached a critical point, according to Honorable Henry B., a member of Nigeria's House of Assembly representing the Norka South Constituency.
Speaking on the disturbing trend of rising kidnappings and killings in the region, Hon. Henry expressed deep concern over the situation, describing it as a grave issue that requires urgent attention.
He said, "The situation is clear, and only someone in self-denial would question or demand a clearer picture of what's happening. We have drifted into a catatonic state of insecurity, especially in Anambra State," he added.
Hon. Henry pointed to the evolution of criminal activities in the region, which initially began with sporadic kidnappings but has now escalated into a full-blown crisis. He attributed this surge to the activities of groups such as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which has morphed into more organized criminal networks.
"It started with pockets of kidnappings, but now we see the IPOB evolving into armed groups like the Eastern Security Network (ESN), with people now legitimizing the merchandising of this whole situation," he explained.
