Ruben Amorim has come to Manchester United with a clear idea and how he wants his team to play football and has been very clear that he will stick to his philosophy irrespective of the results at the moment.
The Portuguese tactician sets up the Red Devils in a 3-4-3 system that served him very well during his time with Sporting CP.
The difference though is that the United, who have played a four at the back formation for years, don't have a squad suited to play this system.
Thus, Amorim will have to look into the transfer market to sign potential players who could adapt to his system seamlessly and this will have to start with signing a player who can naturally play at left-wing back.
As per The Telegraph, Man Utd are pushing to sign talented, PSG left-sided defender Nuno Mendes who would be the perfect option to play in Amorim's system. The Portuguese international has the quality to contribute to attack and the pace to recover in defense.
Mendes is valued at around £58 million by PSG and is willing to make a transfer to Old Trafford happen.
Despite the price attached to the transfer, Manchester United must do everything in their means to secure this signing.
With both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia suffering from fitness issues, Diogo Dalot has been extensively used as the left wing-back by Ruben Amorim so far and for all his quality, not being naturally left-footed hasn't helped the Portuguese international.
Thus, signing his international counterpart and giving Dalot a chance to play on his favored side might just be the way forward for Manchester United. Let's wait and see if they are able to wrap up a deal for Nuno Mendes in this transfer window.
