The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mariya Mahmoud, has called on residents of the capital city to remain calm and not succumb to fear following recent bomb explosions.
According to reports, a bomb blast occurred on Monday at Tsangagyar Sani Uthman Islamiyya School in Abuja, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to two others.
During her visit on Wednesday to the site of the explosion in Kuchikuyi community, Bwari Area Council, Mrs. Mahmoud reassured residents of the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of everyone in the FCT.
"Our sympathy goes to those affected, and we urge you to remain calm and go about your normal businesses.
"We understand the fear and concern that recent events may have caused. Please, know that the authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all residents," she said.
She disclosed that investigations were underway and security measures were already in place to prevent any further incidents.
The Minister of State for FCT advised the residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
"Investigations are underway, and heightened security measures have been put in place to prevent any further incidents.
"During this time, let us remain vigilant but not give in to fear. Stay informed through verified sources, cooperate with security agencies, and support one another as a community," she added.
She was accompanied to the scene by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu; the Commander of the Guards Brigade, Brig. Gen. A.O. Onasanya; and the FCT Sector Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olusola Odumosu.
