Is Joe Biden Trying to Keep Power from Trump?

President Biden Hosts Presidential Citizens Medal Ceremony

Trump's victory has officially been certified, but that doesn't exactly mean that all of the power will be transferred over to him on the 20th. Biden is trying to make sure that the deep state holds on to some of it before he leaves office.

He's made a number of last-minute changes to everything from H-1B visas to offshore oil and gas development, and even the line of succession inside federal agencies.

Political strategist Matt Mackowiak said that this is part of his efforts to insulate the deep state from Trump. He said, "Biden is essentially trying to 'Trump-Proof' the Federal Government, which is what the hard left demands. It's obviously not consistent with the way presidential transitions usually occur."

On top of trying to protect the deep state, Biden also appears to be doing everything he can to kneecap the Trump agenda. This became clear several weeks ago when Biden attempted to sell off huge portions of the border wall.

But it's not just the border; Mackowiak said Biden has also targeted Trump's "Drill Baby Drill" agenda. He said that, "He's done that on policy, with his executive order seeking to ban offshore drilling in U.S. waters; it's unclear how quickly that can be undone."

The good news here is, there isn't much that Biden has managed to do in his last month in office that Trump won't be able to turn around and undo. The only issue now is how long it will take him to draw up and sign his own executive orders.
