According to reports, Osimhen's rejection of Manchester United has been met with anger by the Napoli chief
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has reportedly lost his patience with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen over a failed January transfer.
The Super Eagles star, on loan from Napoli to Galatasaray has been the centre of speculation in the January transfer window, but a move has not materialised despite interest.
Osimhen turns down January approach
During the 2024 summer window, Osimhen and Napoli were approached by several clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Al Ahly, but despite vested interest and several bids, the striker was unable to secure a permanent move away from Naples.
Now on loan with Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig, a similar situation is believed to be playing out with the Super Eagles star and his parent club.
Osimhen has been the subject of interest of top clubs once again in the winter transfer window, with Premier League giants Manchester United reportedly eyeing a swap deal to give Napoli Marcus Rashford in exchange for the Nigeria international.
However, the Red Devils' interest has reportedly not moved Osimhen, putting Napoli; long time admirers of Rashford in a tough position.
De Laurentiis frustrated with Osimhen
With Napoli's pursuit of Rashford now looking bleak thanks to Osimhen's reluctance to trade places with the Manchester United star, the Serie A giant's president De Laurentiis has reportedly taken issue with the Nigerian striker.
According to a report from La Repubblica, De Laurentiis could not control his anger when reacting to Osimhen's rejection saying, "Then let him stay where he is. Tell Galatasaray to take Osimhen."
Despite De Laurentiis' anger, Napoli could still land Rashford with Manchester United also expressing interest in a move for Partenopei forward Kvicha Kvarastkhelia, although the Serie A side are more keen to keep the Georgian than they are to keep Osimhen.
