Manchester United have always dealt in extremes so it's natural that the team that was in a relegation battle two days ago just came away from Anfield with a deserved draw.
Ruben Amorim had time on the training pitch for the first time since arriving at Old Trafford and the team made good on that promise with their display on the matchday.
Bruno Fernandes and Amorim disagreed on that to be the reason behind their good performance but at the end of the day, it was a combination of multiple factors.
Amorim is getting his message across and the players turned up due to the occasion. The latter is a problem but the former can only be a positive.
Paul Scholes claimed that with time, it is getting clear that Amorim has found his best team at United with only a single player preventing it from becoming complete.
Paul Scholes on Man Utd's strongest team
Rotation has been the theme for Ruben Amorim at Manchester United since his arrival has, he has chopped and changed regularly to see all his players in action.
However, even before this, he had said that with time, the rotation would reduce. In the recent games, that has turned out to be true.
There is a spine of the team emerging, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Andre Onana, Noussair Mazraoui, and Amad, for example, undisputed starters.
Scholes said Ugarte is now an untouchable too, and as a result, spaces in Amorim's undisputed first XI are filling up quickly.
Scholes added that Amorim has now found his strongest XI, with just one hole left to be filled but it can be filled by a returning player, instead of buying anyone.
He said: "Who else can come into this team? Maybe Luke Shaw can come in for that left spot but if them 11 are fit, they have to play. That is the standard they've set now and they have to reach that in games in the future.
"I don't see any reason why they can't do it."
One game won't sway Ruben Amorim
If there was one thing to be taken from Amorim's post-match interview it was that unlike Scholes, one game won't sway the Man Utd manager.
If anything, the fact that effectively the same team that played against Wolves or Bournemouth showed up here and competed will leave him disoriented.
Scholes says that this is United's strongest team and while that is true as things stand, it shouldn't mean that reinforcements are not necessary.
For example, Noussair Mazraoui shone against Liverpool but in an ideal world, Amorim would rather have an attack-minded wing-back on both sides.
The same goes for the striker spot, where Rasmus Hojlund again huffed and puffed without much reward, a thing he's making a habit out of.
What is clear now at least is that the issue with the players is not one of talent, but of application and attitude to bring this talent to every matchday.
United's strongest XI is clear for now, but a big cultural change and reinforcements are still crucial to reach the potential that Amorim so clearly desires.
