Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, delivered a message titled 'The Master Is Come' at the January 2025 edition of Power Must Change Hands.
In his sermon, Dr. Olukoya emphasized the importance of intensity in prayer, especially when confronting powerful spiritual forces.
Drawing inspiration from the story of Lazarus, Dr. Olukoya highlighted two key types of prayers. He explained that when Jesus prayed to God, He did so with reverence and adoration, thanking God for always hearing Him.
However, when Jesus turned to face the grave and the spirit of death, He did not offer a gentle prayer. Instead, He cried out loudly, commanding, "Lazarus, come forth."
Dr. Olukoya described this as spiritual warfare, pointing out that Lazarus needed to be released from the grip of death, and this required bold, passionate prayer.
"You don't pray gentleman's prayers when you're facing the spirit of death," Dr. Olukoya asserted. "There is room for quiet prayer, but there is also room for loud prayer, for crying prayer."
He explained that spiritual warfare calls for a level of intensity that cannot be approached passively. As he continued, he pointed out that Lazarus required two miracles: one from God to escape death, and the other from men to remove the grave clothes that represented the remnants of death.
After Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, He instructed those around Him to "Loose him and let him go," signifying the need for human participation in removing the spiritual and physical remnants of death.
Dr. Olukoya then urged believers to prepare for the prophetic prayers that would soon follow, emphasizing the power of fervent, unyielding prayer in overcoming life's greatest challenges.
