Ruben Amorim gets exactly what he's been waiting for at Man Utd, it could be transformational against Liverpool

The past month will have felt like years for Ruben Amorim, as Manchester United lost a whopping six games.

After beating Everton 4-0, Manchester United fans were getting carried away, with Ruben Amorim seen as the second coming. However, Amorim warned a storm was coming, which it since has.

United lost six of nine games in December, with Amorim in the worst form of his career as a head coach.

Ineos did Amorim zero favours with the timing of his appointment, as the radical change in the system makes a good start almost impossible.

However, finally, Amorim got the one thing he had been waiting for since arriving two months ago.

Last week, Amorim admitted he had only gotten his entire team together for four training sessions since arriving due to the hectic schedule of December.

Now, this week with no mid-week clash, Amorim has finally gotten to work with his players on the training ground, as he told MUTV on Friday.

"We have had more time to train, two days in a row to train with the team. That can help us. Of course, it is a difficult moment because we are losing too many matches and we are facing the best team this year, but with more training [sessions], we feel the team more..."

Most of United's problems on the pitch can be put down to the players not understanding their roles - well in this case training time will fix that.

Two days in a row to work with his players might not sound like an awful lot, but when considering it is half the amount United had in the previous month - it could prove to be transformational.

It would be a timely period for United to regain some form, with a clash against Liverpool awaiting them this weekend at Anfield.

Defeat in the game would see Amorim match a losing and goalless streak record of four - stretching all the way back to 1909. So in an effort to avoid this, training sessions will hopefully have a transformational impact on the way United are playing football.

Amorim we imagine will have been drilling defensive structure and fast-breaking attacks all week, for a game which could take a very similar form to the visit to the Emirates. In this game, United were excellent defensively, only conceding due to corners.

Despite how unlikely it seems right now, United could very well spring a surprise on the league leaders, in fact, it is the kind of game which could be a watershed moment for United.

Definitely, one reason to be positive ahead of the Liverpool clash.
