Man Utd star signed by Erik ten Hag now makes dramatic U-turn over his future, clubs lining up for January swoop

This season has been a disaster all around for Manchester United, with some players suffering more than others.

Despite getting rid of Erik ten Hag, things have not improved since the arrival of Ruben Amorim.

If anything, results have actually gotten worse, as Amorim looks to weather the storm in search of long-term success. This is amid a run of four consecutive defeats, a run which is the worst in Amorim's career.

However, before this happens, Manchester United will need to overhaul the squad that Ten Hag built - as it is simply not fit for purpose beyond a handful of players.

This includes players signed just months ago by Ineos, with only a handful of United players considered safe from the expected rebuild that needs to take place.

Now, after United's 2-0 loss against Newcastle, one player in particular is considering his future.

Joshua Zirkzee now evaluating his future at Manchester United

Joshua Zirkzee's first half-season in Manchester was rounded off on Monday night. It was far from a happy conclusion to the year for the Dutchman, with Amorim hooking him in the 32nd minute.

This sight of Zirkzee rushing down the touchline in clear sadness after being cheered at his exit was one few fans would have enjoyed. But Zirkzee did return and applauded fans at the end of the match, hopefully knowing that not every fan was cheering his exit.

Now, it is claimed that Zirkzee is open to considering exit offers in January to end his nightmare stay in England.

According to Italian transfer journalist Rudy Galetti, Zirkzee used December to evaluate his future and is now eager to return to Italy.

It is added three Serie A clubs have registered interest in Zirkzee, the report claims that both AC Milan and Juventus along with a Bologna loan return are on the cards.

In addition, Zirkzee is said to be on Napoli's agenda should Victor Osimhen leave.

This is a major U-turn from December 1st when Zirkzee was keen to stay and prove himself under the new head coach.

Ruben Amorim must now trust the youth

With this latest defeat, several players' futures surely hang in the balance with Ineos set to place multiple stars on the transfer list.

Amorim says United cannot buy in January, so the Portuguese 39-year-old may have to turn to the thriving academy in order to find his solutions.

In regards to reinforcing the forward line which Amorim has picked as a weakness, a certain Chido Obi could be perfect to step up and provide some cutting edge up front.

Obi is tipped to debut this season, so it may soon be time for Amorim to expedite this process and put him ahead of the two struggling senior strikers.

But it is not just Obi who could solve problems for Amorim.

Several U18 and U21 stars are having such impressive seasons and would surely do a better job than the current horrendous senior performers.
