Michail Antonio Discharged from Hospital After Surgery on Broken Leg, Begins Recovery at Home

Michail Antonio has returned home after being discharged from the hospital, following surgery on a broken leg sustained in a car crash.

The West Ham United forward, who was involved in the incident near Theydon Bois, Essex, was airlifted to a London hospital on December 8. He underwent surgery to treat the severe fracture.

Antonio, 34, is expected to be out of action for at least a year as he focuses on recovery. His contract with West Ham is set to expire in the summer, and the club is reportedly considering extending his tenure due to the circumstances surrounding his injury.

In the wake of the accident, both West Ham United and its supporters have rallied around Antonio. The club organized an auction of signed memorabilia, raising nearly £60,000, which will be donated to the NHS and Air Ambulances UK. Additionally, his teammates wore shirts bearing Antonio's name during a home match against Wolverhampton Wanderers to further support the cause.

Antonio, who joined West Ham in 2015, has become the club's all-time leading Premier League goalscorer with 68 goals in 268 appearances. His contributions have been crucial to West Ham's success, including their victory in the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League. As he embarks on his recovery journey, the football community remains united in offering their support and well-wishes for his eventual return to the pitch.
