The Speaker of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Chike Amaewhule, has attributed his emergence as Speaker to the intervention of former Governor Nyesom Wike. Amaewhule revealed that Wike personally appealed to his colleagues, urging them to support his candidacy and expressing confidence in his leadership abilities.
According to Amaewhule, his position as Speaker is not the result of personal ambition, but rather a reflection of divine intervention, with Wike playing a pivotal role in the process. He called on the public to pray for the former Governor and his family, acknowledging Wike's crucial contribution to his political ascent.
He said in a live coverage by Symfoni, "How did I become the Speaker? It was His Excellency who spoke to my colleagues and said, 'Allow him to be the Speaker; I think he will do well.' They trusted his decision, and here I am. To me, it's not by my power-God has done it, but God used him. Let the praise be to God. Please pray for him, and please pray for his family. He has done so much for me."
