Bamba's victory on December 21 saw him crowned the WBA Gold cruiserweight champion, to mark a big milestone in his career. This win was particularly special as it came shortly after he became the first client of singer Ne-Yo's new management company.
After a big win in Saudi Arabia, Oleksandr Usyk says Anthony Joshua will beat Tyson Fury if they fight.
Ne-Yo, along with the Bamba family, released a joint statement confirming the boxer's death. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of beloved son, brother, friend and boxing champion Paul Bamba, whose light and love touched countless lives," the statement read via TNT Sports.
A comprehensive overview of Oleksandr Usyk's life and career, covering his biography, boxing achievements, net worth and social media presence.
The statement continued, "He was a fierce yet confident competitor with an unrelenting ambition to achieve greatness. But more than anything, he was a tremendous individual who inspired many with his exceptional drive and determination.
"We are heartbroken by his passing and kindly ask for privacy and understanding during this difficult time as we collectively navigate our grief."
Bamba's win against Medina Luna, a former super middleweight title contender, extended his professional record to 19-3. Medina Luna was forced to retire after six rounds.
In November 2022, Bamba was scheduled to fight Tommy Fury, Tyson Fury's brother, but the bout was cancelled due to weight issues.
