Manchester United's team has suffered three consecutive defeats in their recent EPL outings. The Red Devils, who are currently 13th on the table and 20 points below league leaders Liverpool, appear to have three weaknesses that Ruben Amorim needs to address before their game against Newcastle United. Here are Manchester United's three challenges
1. Inconsistent defending
The Red Devils' backline reacts poorly to counter-attacks and has also not been impressive against set pieces. A few bad decisions by their defenders have also cost them points. Ahead of the coming game, Amorim should work to improve the harmony and communication in his backline.
2. Poor finishing
Three goals have been scored by the Red Devils in their last three games, and just two came from their attackers, despite the number of chances created by the midfielders in those games. Højlund, Zirkzee, and Antony need to step up as the team prepares for another challenge against Newcastle United.
3. Lack of team leadership
There is noticeably a lack of cohesion and direction in Manchester United's squad, qualities that are instilled by a captain. Bruno Fernandes, who is the captain, should be more disciplined, having been sent off twice this season. Marcos Rashford is also struggling with form. This issue needs to be addressed by Amorim.
