Football action kicked off in the Premier League today when Manchester City hosted Everton at the Etihad Stadium. After suffering back-to-back defeats in the competition, the Cityzens desperately needed a win from this encounter to end the year on a winning note and also revive their hopes in the title race.
Manchester City opened the scoring in the 14th minute of the match as Bernardo Silva found the back of the net with a fine finish to make the scoreline 1-0. Everton's first promising attack in the match resulted in an equalizing goal for them. Iliman Ndiaye beat Stefan Ortega with a brilliant strike from close range to make the scoreline 1-1 at halftime.
The Cityzens had an opportunity to retake the lead in the 51st minute of the match after Savinho was brought down by Mykolenko in the 18-yard area. Erling Haaland was denied by Jordan Pickford from the penalty spot as he made a brilliant save to keep Everton in the match. The Toffees did an incredible job defensively to stop Manchester City's several goalscoring attempts in the remaining minutes of this encounter. Everton made sure they held Man City to a disappointing 1-1 draw at full-time.
