Victor Osimhen: The boy from Olusosun

The 25-year-old was born and raised in that part of the state. While his tale is one of glory now, his beginnings were humble, and as a child, he hawked goods on the streets and motorways of Lagos.

His talents stood out at a young age, and he got called up to the Nigerian U-17 set-up that became triumphant in 2017. He secured a move to Wolfsburg, and his trajectory has been on the up. During a career in which he made a stop at multiple European cities, crowned himself king in Naples, and is now one of the favourite residents of Istanbul, Osimhen never forgot home.

Even with the remarkable success, the former Lille man remained connected with his old neighbourhood and has referenced his upbringing there on multiple instances.

After he was named the CAF Player of the Year, Olusosun's favourite son brought the trophy back home; for many in that part of the country, their proximity to greatness had never been closer.

With most of European football on break, Osimhen is back partying in Lagos, as is the norm with him.

On Christmas Day, Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba, a close associate of the striker, shared some videos on social media showing Osimhen making a triumphant return home to celebrate the holiday.

Reports earlier today claim that the Cim-Bom striker distributed bags of rice and other food items to aid in the celebrations along with tricycles, 'keke,' to help empower the people of Olusosun.

According to Punch Nigeria, he will replicate the gesture of goodwill in his hometown of Esan, Edo State, Nigeria.
