Galatasaray have stepped up their pursuit for a new striker after reportedly sending an initial bid.
Galatasaray have reportedly submitted their first bid to Lyon for the signing of Georgian Striker Georges Mikautadze as they are keen on strengthening their offensive ranks.
The 24-year-old forward only recently joined Les Gones this summer after his impressive Euro 2024 campaign in which he scored three goals in four games earned him an €18.5 million move from Metz.
Galatasaray submit first bid
According to a report from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Cim-Bom made a proposal worth €17 million plus add-ons for the striker today.
However, Lyon are said to be demanding more, as they value Mikautadze higher than the Turkish champions' first offer.
As Pulse Sports reported, 24-time Super Lig champions initially planned to channel a significant investment towards signing Victor Osimhen permanently. However, even their best effort is still expected to fall short of the Nigerian's €75 million release clause, which Napoli has stated they would not budge on.
They seem to have accepted the reality and have taken their money elsewhere, with the bid for Mikautadze. Also, bringing the Georgian in January helps clog the Mauro Icardi-sized hole in Okan Buruk's squad, after an ACL injury ruled the Argentine out for the rest of the campaign.
