Recent reports had suggested that Manchester United were eyeing Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, as part of a move to bolster their attacking options. The rumors even went as far as to suggest that the Red Devils were willing to include striker Joshua Zirkzee in a swap deal to tempt Napoli into selling Osimhen.
However, respected Italian journalist Paolo del Genio has poured cold water on these reports, dismissing them as nothing more than a "market lie". Del Genio, who is well-connected in Italian football circles, made his comments during a television appearance on Radio Kiss Kiss via Area Napoli.
"Will Napoli take Zirkzee in a swap deal with Victor Osimhen? I'll go out on a limb and say that this is nothing more than a market lie," Del Genio said. "There is no chance, at the moment, that the striker now at Manchester United could end up at the court of mister Antonio Conte in the possible negotiations between the Red Devils and the Neapolitans for Victor Osimhen."
Del Genio's comments will come as a relief to Napoli fans, who are eager to keep hold of Osimhen's services. The Nigerian striker has been in scintillating form since his move to Galatasaray, netting nine goals and providing five assists in just 12 appearances.
