Musician Ed Sheeran has issued an apology to Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim after interrupting his post-match interview following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.
Amorim, who was speaking to Sky Sports at Portman Road, was discussing the match when Ed Sheeran entered the scene to chat with pundit Jamie Redknapp.
The incident drew criticism on social media, prompting Sheeran to address the matter on Instagram.
"Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn't actually realise he was being interviewed at the time, was popping in to say hi and bye to Jamie," Sheeran explained.
"[Obviously] feel a bit of a b-- but life goes on. Great game though, congrats on all involved x."
A passionate Ipswich Town fan and minority stakeholder in the club, Sheeran also serves as the front-of-shirt sponsor for the team.
Ed Sheeran was in the stands as Ipswich came from behind to secure a point in Amorim's managerial debut for Manchester United, following his recent appointment as Erik ten Hag's successor.
Looking ahead, Amorim's next test will be against FK Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday, while Ipswich faces Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday.
