In a recent video on Facebook, Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church, shared a powerful lesson on financial wisdom and prioritization. The renowned cleric recounted an experience he had while visiting Canada with a friend who offered him a ring worth 210 Canadian dollars. In response, Oyedepo firmly rejected the offer, saying, "God forbid. Even if I am possessed."
He elaborated on his stance, explaining that such an expense, in his view, was not in line with his values. "That will build three churches," Oyedepo said, emphasizing the importance of investing in more significant, long-term purposes.
In addressing the younger generation, Oyedepo urged them to be cautious with their spending, advising, "Young people, caution! Don't eat up your future." His words were a reminder to focus on building a solid foundation for the future rather than succumbing to fleeting desires for material wealth.
According to him, "Discipline your taste. It is work before pleasure. Proverbs 24:27. Young people hear me oh! Hear now "I am trusting God for ₦25,000,000 from my mother's bank. I also have a friend and that bank, they are willing to give me ₦60,000,000" Okay, what is your job? You have not done one job in your life, you will crash it. Discipline! You discipline your taste! Discipline your outlook, discipline your clothes. You are not in a fashion parade, what is your problem?"
"I am not a poor man but I will never wear a suit of 10,000 dollars. Where am I going? Who is looking for me? There are more valuable things to do with that. Young people, caution! Don't eat up your future."
