Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic claimed that 'Putin is not bluffing' and that 'unfortunately we are slowly entering a catastrophe' in a rather ominous warning
An ominous warning by an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin has been issued - "he isn't bluffing". The claim relates to the potential threat of Russian using nuclear missiles after the US gave Ukraine permission to launch American-made missiles into Putin's territory.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who claims to know Putin "well", told journalists asking him about Russia using medium range intercontinental ballistic missiles against Ukraine: "If anyone thinks that you can shoot at Russian territory with anything, using Western logistics, Western weapons, and that this will remain unanswered, and that Putin will not use all the tools and means that he deems necessary, you either do not know him or you are crazy.
"There is no third option. Nobody wants to listen to anybody, nobody wants to hear the word 'peace'.
"When you have 10 steps to complete disaster, we have crossed the ninth. I will tell you openly what I think. I think that no one will hesitate to use all the weapons they have...In the West, they will say that Putin is playing games and threatening with this, but he is actually afraid, and I will tell you that few people know President Putin like I do.
"Therefore, as you see, today there is an intercontinental missile, tomorrow something else will happen, somewhere else, who knows how close or far from us, but we must be ready. Putin is not bluffing and, unfortunately, we are slowly entering a catastrophe."
And in a more sobering message, he said that Serbia has started "organizing shelters" as the country is within the crossfire of any potential greater war efforts from any nation.
He said: "We are providing masks, we are doing everything possible to ensure the lives of our people."
No other Western leader has commented on the potential escalation in this way yet, with many experts claiming that it is just Putin ramping up the rhetoric as he has done many times during the now-1,000 day conflict with Ukraine.
