'I have no family,' BBNaija winner, Phyna drops surname

Reality TV star and 2022 Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) winner, Phyna, has publicly announced her decision to drop her family surname, "Otabor," citing an apparent lack of connection with her family and unanswered questions about her origins.

In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Phyna opened up about her struggles:

'I have no family,' BBNaija winner, Phyna drops surname

"I am publicly dropping my family surname OTABOR... it has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about," she wrote.

Phyna continued, expressing the emotional turmoil she has been experiencing:

"I'm still searching for answers though... it's been rough with me lately... I'm in a place where I can't even describe how I feel or what to call what I'm going through. Growing up and the way I was tossed around relatives, I should have suspected something, but I guess I was too young... omo my head wan tear"

This revelation comes after a publicized feud with her family last year. During the conflict, her father alleged in an interview that Phyna had distanced herself from her family and ceased communication with them. At the time, her response sparked heated debates on social media, further highlighting the strained relationship.

Phyna's announcement has garnered significant attention online, with fans and followers expressing support and concern. Some urged her to seek professional help to navigate her personal struggles, while others empathized with her quest for clarity and closure.

The former BBNaija winner, known for her bold personality and resilience, continues to inspire conversations about family dynamics and self-identity.
