According to report, Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved a new minimum wage of N75,000 for civil servants in Osun State, marking a significant milestone in the state's labor relations. The announcement came through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.
The decision followed the submission of the Public Service Negotiation Committee's report. The government team, led by Chief of Staff Kazeem Akinleye, negotiated with the labor team, headed by State NLC Chairman Comrade Christopher Arapasopo.
"The implementation of the N75,000 minimum wage underscores our commitment to social justice, economic growth, and improved living standards for workers and citizens alike," the statement read. Governor Adeleke emphasized his administration's focus on the welfare of civil servants, acknowledging their dedication despite limited state resources.
He also called on civil servants to enhance service delivery and innovate solutions to improve public service, ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.
This approval positions Osun State as a leader in labor-friendly policies. Neighboring states, like Ekiti and the Federal Capital Territory, recently adopted a N70,000 minimum wage. Adeleke's move demonstrates a progressive approach to uplifting workers and bolstering economic growth in the state.
The governor's administration reaffirmed its dedication to the growth and development of Osun, urging civil servants to rise to the occasion and contribute positively to the state's progress.
With this adjustment, Osun workers look forward to better living standards, as the government sets an example for other states to follow.
