Western countries have officially submitted a new resolution at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) condemning Iran for its lack of cooperation with the nuclear watchdog.
Diplomatic sources confirmed that the resolution, which was submitted just before midnight on Tuesday, has been backed by the UK, France, and Germany, with the United States offering support.
According to Times of Israel, the resolution is aimed at reprimanding Tehran for its expanding nuclear enrichment activities and its failure to provide transparency to the IAEA.
The move comes as the IAEA prepares for its upcoming board meeting, where discussions on Iran's nuclear program are expected to dominate.
The Western powers have expressed concerns that Iran's ongoing nuclear advancements, particularly its stockpiling of uranium enriched to near-weapons grade, pose a significant risk to global security.
In response to the resolution, Iran's Foreign Minister has warned the Western nations that such a step would only exacerbate tensions and hinder diplomatic efforts.
Tehran also offered a potential concession, suggesting it could limit its uranium stockpile if the resolution were withdrawn.
This offer, revealed in a leaked IAEA report, is seen as an attempt by Iran to mitigate the situation while avoiding further international censure.
The resolution is expected to deepen the ongoing standoff between Iran and the West, as both sides continue to navigate a delicate diplomatic landscape over Iran's nuclear ambitions.
