TCN boosts electricity supply in three states

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has announced that it has boosted electricity supply in Enugu, Ebonyi, and parts of Benue.

The company disclosed this in a statement on Monday through its official X account.

TCN said Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, can lift 480 megawatts from its facility in a 150MVA 330/132/33kV power transformer at 330kV New Haven Transmission.

"The newly engergised transformer has increased the substation's capacity from 360 MW to 480 MW, making more bulk power available to Enugu DisCo for offtake to its customers in Enugu, Ebonyi, and parts of Benue State.

"The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) successfully energised a 150MVA 330/132/33kV power transformer at the 330kV New Haven Transmission Substation under the Enugu Sub-Region," the statement reads.

This comes amid a surge in national grid collapses in the country.

Torizone reports that in the past months the national grid had collapsed at least twelve times, throwing Nigeria into darkness.
