Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will remain with the Turkish Super Lig champions until the end of the current season, despite interest from other clubs.
According to reports, Osimhen, who is on loan from Serie A side Napoli, has been a key figure for Galatasaray since joining the team. Recent reports indicated that Premier League giants Manchester United had approached the 25-year-old forward, raising speculation about a potential January transfer.
The player's contract reportedly includes a clause allowing him to join another club during the winter transfer window. However, Buruk has dispelled any rumors of an early exit, emphasizing Osimhen's commitment to Galatasaray.
"Osimhen intends to stay here until the end of the season," Buruk told NTV. "He also wants to stay and has been telling me the same thing since the beginning. There is a clause, but it doesn't matter; he said he will stay."
Buruk highlighted that the striker's decision is pivotal, reiterating that Osimhen's intentions have been consistent since his arrival in Istanbul. "The important thing is the player. It is the player who decides, and Osimhen says he will stay here. He said the same thing when he came," the manager added.
Osimhen has been in stellar form for Galatasaray, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in nine appearances across all competitions. His contributions have been instrumental in the team's domestic and European campaigns, making him an indispensable part of Buruk's squad.
The Nigerian international's performances have not gone unnoticed, with Manchester United reportedly eager to bolster their attacking options. However, Buruk's remarks suggest that Galatasaray is confident of retaining the striker until the season concludes.
As Galatasaray continues to compete on multiple fronts, keeping Osimhen is a significant boost for the club. His impressive start to life in Turkey has solidified his status as one of the top talents in European football, and fans will be eager to see how he finishes the season.
