TODAY IN HISTORY: Nigeria Airways Flight Carrying 138 People Crashes, Many Killed

On November 13, 1995, a Nigeria Airways Flight 357 which had 138 occupants crashed while attempting to land at Kaduna International Airport.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-2F9, flying from Jos to Kaduna had issues with witnesses later noting that the landing was unstable. The pilot lost control, which made the aircraft to overrun the runway and collide with nearby structures. While 127 passengers and the 14 crew members were fortunate to survive, 11 passengers died and others suffered serious injuries due to the impact.
