A high-stakes power struggle in Equatorial Guinea has surfaced as Vice President Teodoro Obiang Mangue, son of the current president, allegedly maneuvers against Baltasar Engonga, a popular and influential nephew of the president, according to a BBC report.
Mangue reportedly seeks to eliminate Engonga as a potential successor to his father's presidency by orchestrating a series of investigations that led to Engonga's imprisonment, seizure of his electronic devices, and the subsequent leak of explicit videos.
The leaked footage, allegedly containing over 400 videos, reportedly shows Engonga engaged in sexual acts with numerous women, including wives of prominent figures and even some of his relatives.
This scandal has drawn international attention, highlighting a fierce competition within the ruling family for control of Equatorial Guinea's leadership.
