Ruben Amorim has arrived in Manchester to take up his role as Manchester United's new head coach, following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag two weeks ago, according to The Mirror.

The 39-year-old Portuguese coach will assume permanent leadership of the team, stepping in after interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who led United through four matches with three wins and a draw.

Van Nistelrooy's future at the club remains uncertain, with Amorim expected to bring along his coaching team from Sporting Lisbon. Amorim and his staff touched down in Manchester on Monday, ready to begin their tenure at the Premier League club.

While it is widely expected that his team members-including Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro, Jorge Vital, and Carlos Barreira-will join United, official confirmation is still pending.

The transition comes at a crucial time for Manchester United, who sit 13th in the Premier League standings, a far cry from the top position held by Liverpool, who lead by 13 points.

However, the gap to the top four remains manageable, with United trailing by only four points.

Amorim's previous club, Sporting Lisbon, currently tops the Primeira Liga with an unbeaten record this season.

His final match in charge saw a dramatic comeback, with Sporting defeating Braga 4-2 after initially trailing by two goals.

United paid Sporting a release fee of £10.6 million to secure Amorim's services, along with an additional amount for his staff.
