Donald Trump, recently elected as the 47th U.S. President, has promised to end birthright citizenship for future children of illegal immigrants in the country.

Trump renewed his old promises in 2023 before the intense campaign that secured him victory to the White House for the second non-consecutive term.

The former President, who had been vocal about ending automatic citizenship for children of illegal immigrants, spoke about it multiple times but never pulled the trigger.

Trump had claimed that giving birthright to future children of illegal immigrants was pronounced "under Biden's current policies." However, the policy has been the standing interpretation of 14th Amendment, dated back to over 100 years, including that of Trump's first tenure.

But in a video shared on his page on May 30, 2023, promised to sign the executive order as part of his plan to secure the U.S border

"As part of my plan to secure the border on Day 1 of my new term in office, I will sign an executive order making clear to federal agencies that under the correct interpretation of the law, going forward the future children of illegal aliens will not receive automatic U.S. citizenship," Trump pledged in the video.
