The Ambassador of Japan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tamaki Tsukada during an interview with the Iran News Agency while revealing his experience as a Japanese envoy to Iran, revealed that good citizens of Iran were very friendly, and they were very curious to know about foreign people, foreign culture, and especially Japanese.

According to the Iran News Agency, the Ambassador of Japan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tamaki Tsukada, said, "When you are strolling in the town, you feel like you are in a European town; that's the impression that I got when I first arrived in Iran. The fact that there are a lot of negative media reports about Iran that are not true. If you come to Iran, you will instantly notice that, first of all, people are very friendly and they are very curious to know about foreign people, foreign culture, and especially Japanese."

Tamaki Tsukada added that the economic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan were at a very low level, adding that the United States of America sanctions against Iran and other international were the reasons why the economic relationship between the two countries was at a very low level. He also added that he was very optimistic that they could get over the problem in the near future, and build on these very warm feelings that they have towards each other.

Ambassador Tsukada added that Japan had enjoyed a very unique bilateral relationship with Iran, which was distinct from the relationship of Iran with other Western countries, including the United States of America.
