EPL: I considered taking Man City job - Amorim admits

Rúben Amorim has admitted he thought about Sporting CP director of football Hugo Viana to Manchester City.

However, the 39-year-old insists he was only ever focused on becoming Manchester United's new head coach.

On Tuesday night, Amorim will take charge of his last home fixture - a Champions League clash against City.

Amorim is expected to resume duties at Old Trafford on November 11.

His decision to replace Erik ten Hag came just two weeks after City appointed Viana to replace Txiki Begiristain at the end of the season.

Amorim has now said he had thoughts about possibly working at the Etihad Stadium as well.

He said: "My decision has been made and that's the club I want to work for. That's where I want to continue my career as a coach.

"It crossed my mind, but I decided on the club I wanted and I didn't want anything else. I wanted Manchester United and that's what I did."
