A noodle vendor from Delta State, Nigeria, recently took to social media to share how her business has been repeatedly vandalized by a group of men in her community.
According to her, the harassment stems from her refusal to date them or extend credit on purchases.
In a post on her TikTok page, the vendor, identified as Goodness Ovie, shared a video detailing her distressing encounters.
She described how she peacefully runs her business but continues to face mistreatment from the men in her neighborhood, who allegedly retaliate against her for turning down their advances and insisting on upfront payment.
"My name is Goodness Ovie, and I reside in Warri, Delta State," she began. "I'm sharing this here as a memory bank since my phone has limited storage-I want to look back on this someday."
Ovie continued, "I'm a small business owner selling noodles at night. These guys in the area constantly destroy my table and items for reasons I can't understand. This has happened three times now, and I'm at my breaking point. The local chairman and others are not supportive, and the harassment keeps happening because I refuse to date them."
"Sometimes, when I ask if they'll pay by cash or transfer, it creates problems. They slap me, threaten me, and often try to beat me up. I'm from another community and live alone, so I try to stay peaceful to avoid conflict."
The vendor went on to recount how the men regularly break into her storage to steal items.
Despite her attempts to keep a low profile and avoid issues, she finds herself feeling isolated, afraid, and unsupported.
"I'm struggling and exhausted. It's as though society is set against me, only looking for ways to take advantage. I feel lost, depressed, and hopeless," she wrote. "If these local leaders continue to turn a blind eye, one day they might even kill me-but I trust God will protect me."
Following her post, many concerned individuals flooded the comments section to offer support and share words of encouragement.
