A Nigerian man has taken to social media to share a candid story about the end of his marriage, revealing that he doesn't believe in pleading with a woman or wife to stay.
In a detailed post on his page via the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, he recounted how his wife expressed her intention to divorce him-a decision he accepted calmly.
The man shared that he wasn't one to beg anyone to remain in his life, so he moved on and started a new relationship shortly after their separation.
He mentioned that, prior to their marriage, he would often be the one apologizing during conflicts, but this time, he resolved to move on without looking back. A few weeks after the breakup, he relocated to a new apartment.
In his words, "I'm usually reluctant to discuss my failed marriage, so people won't assume I'm still hurt. But to help others learn from my experience and validate John Doe's teachings, it's worth sharing."
He continued, explaining how his ex-wife moved out in August after securing her own apartment.
As she packed up, he didn't try to convince her to stay, instead making arrangements to leave their three-bedroom apartment the following week, despite having just renewed the rent.
"When we later met at the human rights office, she seemed shocked to learn I had moved out. She thought I'd be around to see the kids on weekends. Little did she know I'd already rented a new place and started a relationship with someone else."
The man added, "It's not about feeling like 'the prize' as a man; it's about masculinity. I no longer believe in begging anyone to stay in my life. When we were dating, I'd sometimes plead with her to stay after disagreements, but I've grown since then."
He concluded by sharing that he has no regrets about moving forward and is focused on being a good father, giving his ex-wife the space to live her life as she wishes.
His story sparked reactions online, with many people sharing their thoughts in the comment section of his post.

@amazingife: "So she just left you, no reason??? So you're a saint and she just left her home and marriage and husband for no reason 🤣😂🤣 well done angel Gabriel"
@Nwalie20001: "The story is half baked, your been economical with the truth. Even with the little you've said, it obvious the woman is not a trouble maker, and she still loves you."
@chi_quiero: "As i read, i kept wondering 'what about the kids?', but you answered that question at the end. Honestly, if ever you've to choose, ALWAYS choose yourself. Always."
@osloAMINGO: "U deliberately left some part unsaid in ur post, i will give it to u, u are a good editor. There's always 3 sides to a story: ur side, their side & between d 2, d truth. D fact dat she took u to the human rights office makes it look somehow, but who am i to poke my nose."
@Sirobama56: "Your story just validates my decision when i broke up with my ex. You just need to leave the environment as soon as the breakup happens if you find out she stays close. It will help you move on faster."
