Hezbollah strikes Israeli military bases and Haifa region, forcing Israelis into shelters

On Saturday, Hezbollah escalated its offensive against Israel, launching a coordinated series of air and missile strikes on multiple Israeli targets, sparking air raid sirens and heightened alerts across northern Israel.

In an official statement, Hezbollah announced that its forces launched an air assault on Palmachim Airbase, a strategic military site located south of Tel Aviv. According to the Lebanese militant group, a squadron of attack drones was deployed to strike specific targets within the base, which is home to Israel's Arrow missile defense system and key radar installations. According to reports from Shafaq News, Hezbollah claimed that the drones successfully hit their targets with precision, dealing a blow to critical military infrastructure.

Simultaneously, Hezbollah launched a rocket barrage at the Zofolon (or Zvulun) military industrial base near Haifa, marking the second recent attack on this location. In addition, the Kiryot area, also near Haifa, was struck by rockets in a separate assault. The group's statement suggested that these attacks were part of an intensified campaign against northern Israel, as Hezbollah had previously declared a list of targeted areas.

Shafaq News reports that the attacks prompted widespread alarm across the region. Israeli media reported that air raid sirens blared in over 20 towns, including Safed, Acre, Nahariya, and Meron in the western Galilee region, as authorities urged residents to seek shelter. In response to the attacks, Haifa's local council head noted Hezbollah's commitment to fulfilling its previous warning that "what applies to Kiryat Shmona applies to Haifa," referring to the northern Israeli town that has frequently been targeted during the conflict.

Earlier, Hezbollah had issued a warning advising residents of 25 Israeli settlements to evacuate, declaring these areas as "direct targets" for their operations. Following this warning, towns across northern Israel have experienced a sustained wave of Hezbollah attacks, including rocket strikes and drone incursions, leaving residents on high alert.

One of the day's most severe incidents occurred in the central Israeli town of Tira, where a rocket launched from Lebanon struck a residential building, injuring at least 19 people. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene, providing aid to those affected. The injuries ranged from moderate to minor, with several residents treated for shock.

As tensions between Hezbollah and Israel continue to escalate, the situation remains highly volatile. Hezbollah's latest wave of attacks has not only intensified fears among Israeli civilians but also underscored the militant group's growing military capabilities, including its use of drones and coordinated missile strikes. Israeli officials have not yet provided a detailed response to Saturday's attacks, but the ongoing escalation highlights the increasingly complex and dangerous nature of the conflict along Israel's northern border.
