Spain legend Iker Casillas has criticised the 2024 Ballon d'Or award, which was won by Manchester City star Rodri.
Rodri was named the winner of the Ballon d'Or award on Monday, defeating Vinicius Jr., who was one of the favourites to win the award.
The Manchester City star was voted by journalists and named the best player in the world for the year 2024.
However, Rodri's win has been criticised by many fans and pundits who believe he is not the best player in the world.
Casillas react to Rodri's Ballon d'Or win
Casillas has criticised Rodri's Ballon d'Or win, claiming that it should have gone to another Spanish player.
The former Real Madrid goalkeeper said in the video shared on TikTok, via Bolavip, "It doesn't seem logical, because if you have to give it to a Spaniard, then it should go to Carvajal.
"In that sense, Rodri has been injured for a month and a half. There's just no criteria. There's nothing that tells me you're basing this on something."
"And speaking of the Spaniards, I still don't understand how it's possible that for four years, from 2008 to 2012, no Spaniard won the Ballon d'Or, especially when we won the World Cup.
"There were players who could have won it. But not me, you know? This award seems absurd to me, to put it mildly."
