Comrade Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has alleged a plot to remove Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. According to a report by DAILY TRUST, Frank condemned a recent Federal High Court ruling that ordered the seizure of the state's monthly allocations, claiming this action is part of a wider effort to pressure Fubara into joining the APC or to remove him from office.
In a statement from Abuja, Frank voiced strong concerns about what he sees as constitutional violations by both the courts and police in Rivers State, criticizing the President's silence on the matter. He described this silence as significant, implying a tacit endorsement of the actions against Fubara.
"Already all security agencies and federal government institutions are against Fubara because they have been directed to ensure that Fubara succumbs to the President's wishes or be removed," Frank stated.
He warned that any unlawful move to destabilize Rivers State or remove Fubara from office would lead to severe consequences. "There will definitely be consequences for any illegal action aimed at destabilizing Rivers State or intimidating, persecuting, and removing Fubara from office.
Rivers' people and the Niger Delta will resist it to the extent that the entire country will feel the impact, as the President will not be able to quell the unimaginable uprising that will result from the action," he said. Frank urged the Governor to remain firm in his dedication to the people of Rivers State, reassuring him that the citizens are united in their support.
Additionally, Frank called on the international community to intervene before the situation worsens, noting that timely action could prevent the crisis from escalating. He highlighted the importance of stability in the region, especially for international oil companies operating in the Niger Delta, and stressed that the current political tension must be addressed promptly to avoid further complications.
