"Records are nice" - Arne Slot breaks Liverpool's 132-year mark, sets new EPL milestone

'Records are nice

Liverpool coach Arne Slot has set a new record that no manager in the club's 132-year history has managed.

When Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp at the start of the 24/25 English Premier League season not many would have expected the Dutchman to hit the ground running.

However, Arne Slot has not just filled the big boots of charismatic Klopp but is setting a new legacy that even the German would have been proud of.

On Tuesday night, Liverpool defeated RB Leipzig courtesy of a Darwin Nunez strike, setting a new club record in the process.

The win marked the first time in the Merseyside club's 132-year history that a manager would win the first six away games of a season.

Also, Arne Slot has become the first coach in the English Premier League to win the first 11 of 12 games in charge across all competitions.

Reacting after this feat, Arne Slot said it's always nice to achieve something that no one has achieved in the past.

"So many great teams have worn this shirt, so many great managers have been at this club. So if you can achieve something that hasn't been achieved before, it is almost impossible at a big club like this. To achieve it is always nice," Slot said.

The 46-year-old Dutchman, however, stated that while setting new records is important, winning laurels remains the ultimate goal.

He said: "Records are nice, but there is something else that is more nice than records and we both know what I mean, I think, that's trophies.

Liverpool, who currently sit on top of the Premier League table and boast a perfect record in the Champions League, travel to the Emirates on Sunday, October 27th to face title-contenders Arsenal. Kick-off is by 4:30PM.
