The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has finally addressed the recent arrest of convicted cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
After a period of speculation and silence, the NIS provided clarity on the situation, detailing the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
Admitting that Bobrisky was arrested on Monday at the Seme Border while attempting to flee the country, the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), DCI Kenneth Udo, stated that the cross-dresser is considered a "person of interest."
Udo elaborated on the circumstances of the arrest, noting that the NIS had been monitoring Okuneye's activities due to his legal troubles.
He said;
"In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service NIS intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to Exit the Country.
"The Service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern. He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action.
"The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country's Borders".
