'It is frustrating' - Nathan Tella reveals he's not getting enough playing time at Leverkusen

Nathan Tella of the Super Eagles has said that he is annoyed by Bayer Leverkusen, the German Bundesliga winner because he does not get enough playing time.

In the summer of 2023, the Nigerian international moved from Southampton to Bayer Leverkusen for an estimated 23 million euros.

He made an impression during his debut season with Bayer Leverkusen, helping the Black and Reds win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal with eleven goal involvements in 39 all-competition games.

However, he has struggled to get playing time this season under Xabi Alonso and has affected his national team call-up.

Tella unhappy with limited playing time

Tella has disclosed that he had open discussions with manager Xabi Alonso about his lack of playing time.

According to the German daily BILD, Tella said, "It's frustrating, to be honest. But I spoke to the coach. He assured me that I will get opportunities and that I have to be patient.

"When I get a chance, I have to show myself. I think I've done well, and I also think I'm training well.

"Now it is up to the coach to have the confidence to use me. He makes the decisions - and they work well."
