Heavyweight contender Zhilei Zhang has thrown his weight behind Daniel Dubois in a potential rematch with Anthony Joshua, predicting victory for the Briton.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Zhang expressed confidence in Dubois' ability to repeat his September 21 triumph at Wembley, where he knocked out Joshua in the fifth round.
The Chinese boxer said, "I can't really say I'm disappointed because as a boxing fan myself, I look at it from a fan's perspective. Joshua has been on top of the pyramid for years, and when you're on top of the food chain, that definitely changes your mentality a bit."
Zhang cast doubts on Joshua's mental state following the defeat, suggesting a rematch could spell further trouble for the British-Nigerian.
"This defeat-I don't know where it puts him mentally, but I think the rematch will be a worst-case scenario for Joshua," Zhang added.
Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has indicated his fighter's readiness for the challenge, despite the shocking loss that derailed his bid for a third world title reign.
The heavyweight landscape has become increasingly intriguing, with both Joshua and Dubois linked to potential bouts against top-tier opponents like Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
However, attention has now shifted to the possibility of a rematch between the former two-time world champion and Dubois, a fight that could have significant implications for both boxers' careers.
While Joshua seeks redemption, Dubois views the potential rematch as an opportunity to cement his place among the division's elite.
As anticipation builds, boxing fans eagerly await an official announcement, with Zhang's endorsement adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding narrative between Joshua and Dubois.
