After the Tunisian pilot who took the Super Eagles players to Libya said the jet was diverted, one of the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, and a former Kaduna congressman who represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, responded. A pilot has come out with shocking information on a flight diversion in Libya, according to report. The aircraft was ordered by Libyan officials to be diverted suddenly from its original destination of Benghazi to Al-Abraq, which is 150 miles off track.
According to a quote, he said: "The flight plan was to land at Benghazi, Benina, and we had the approval from the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority to do so. However, when we began our descent, they instructed us to divert to Al-Abraq, which is almost 150 miles away, around 300 kilometers east. It wasn't even listed as our alternate airport, something that is not good.".
Senator Shehu Sani, though, has already responded to the report. In a message that he uploaded on his official X Twitter on Tuesday, he said the Libyan officials didn't even examine whether the plane has adequate fuel or not. Shehu Sani posted the following on his Official X page:
"Imagine a pilot being diverted to another airport without minding whether the plane has enough fuel or not. That is the Libyan issue".
