Libya Threatens Legal Action Over Nigeria's AFCON Withdrawal

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has announced its intention to pursue legal action against Nigeria following the Super Eagles' withdrawal from their scheduled AFCON qualifier match in Benghazi.

The decision came after the Nigerian team experienced significant delays and hardships, being stranded for over 13 hours at Al Abaq Airport without access to basic necessities.

In a statement, the LFF condemned Nigeria's actions, stating that despite experiencing "inhumane treatment" in Nigeria prior to the first leg, they cooperated to play the match.

They accused the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) of uncooperativeness regarding both matches and expressed their disappointment over the disruption caused by Nigeria's withdrawal.

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong criticized the conditions at the Libyan airport as "disgraceful," alleging that Libyan authorities revoked their landing permit deliberately, resulting in their ordeal.

According to Channels Television, the situation escalated as images circulated showing players sleeping on benches, igniting public outcry.

The LFF's statement concluded with an apology to Libyan football fans for the confusion surrounding the match arrangements, attributing the delays to the NFF's actions.
