At the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) ordination service in Brazil, Pastor E.A. Adeboye shared a powerful revelation about the worst thing that could happen to any individual.
He referenced Proverbs 13:9, which states, "The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked will be put out." Pastor Adeboye explained that the gravest situation anyone can face is to have once possessed light and then lose it.
Using a vivid analogy, he explained that a person born blind doesn't truly understand what it means to lose sight because they have never experienced light. "If a man had been born blind and had never seen, he doesn't know what is missing because everything has always been black," Pastor Adeboye said.
He further illustrated his point by recalling the story of the famous musician Stevie Wonder, who was blind from birth. Pastor Adeboye noted that Wonder once remarked to those who pitied him that he saw no reason for pity, as he had never experienced any color other than black. To him, black was the only reality he knew.
However, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the tragedy of someone who had once experienced light and then suddenly lost it. "If there's someone who has seen and unfortunately loses sight, that's terrible," he warned, pointing out that this scenario represents a much deeper spiritual truth.
