According to the report from Reuters, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, has urgently called for international pressure on Israel to allow medical staff in Gaza's hospitals to continue their work, especially as the lives of critically injured children hang in the balance.
"Our message is a message of peace for the sake of those children," Abu Safiya said, appealing for immediate intervention.
Meanwhile, Ramesh Rajasingham, director of the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), reported that an OCHA-World Health Organization team had been unable to reach Kamal Adwan Hospital despite receiving clearance from the Israeli military.
"The team was forced to wait at the holding point for hours, and ultimately, the mission had to be aborted. And that's not an unusual practice," Rajasingham told a U.N. meeting.
He further revealed that in September, fewer than 10% of coordinated aid missions to northern Gaza were facilitated by Israeli authorities.
"The essential conditions for effective aid operations are severely lacking or entirely absent," Rajasingham added.
According to medical staff, Israeli bombardments have already caused damage to Kamal Adwan Hospital. Outside the facility, many bodies of those killed by Israeli fire lie on the roads, medics said.
The Israeli military has instructed residents of Jabalia and surrounding areas to relocate to designated humanitarian zones in southern Gaza.
However, both Palestinian and U.N. officials have stressed that there are no truly safe areas in the densely populated territory. Philippe Lazzarini, head of the U.N. Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA), addressed the U.N. Security Council, stating: "Hundreds of thousands of people are again being pushed to move to the south, where living conditions are intolerable."
Residents report that Israeli forces have encircled Jabalia, allowing civilians to exit only through a single corridor.
Those who attempt to escape through other routes face being fired upon, while Israeli troops interrogate and arrest those who comply with the evacuation order.
Amid this escalating conflict, Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters continue to resist Israeli forces, using anti-tank rockets and mortar bombs.
The Israeli military, in turn, claims it has killed dozens more militants, seized weapons, and dismantled militant infrastructure in northern Gaza.
Israel's offensive began following a cross-border attack by Hamas-led militants on October 7, 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and approximately 250 hostages taken, according to Israeli reports.
Since the start of the offensive, the Gaza Health Ministry estimates that over 42,000 Palestinians have been killed, with most of Gaza's 2.3 million residents displaced and large parts of the enclave reduced to rubble.
