The Defence Headquarters has officially responded to a viral video in which ex-Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo, claimed he had the capacity to bring down military aircraft allegedly seen hovering over his house during the recent Rivers State local government elections.
Dokubo had boasted, "The federal government knows that I have the capacity to bring down any aircraft."
In a swift reaction, Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, dismissed Dokubo's comments, calling them "laughable" and insisting that Dokubo was merely "blabbing."
According to Buba, Dokubo lacks the capability to challenge or take down any military aircraft.
He emphasized that the military remains professional and strictly operates within the framework of democracy.
Buba also clarified that various security agencies utilize aircraft for national security operations and that the military's actions are governed by professional standards.
He noted that it is up to relevant authorities to decide on appropriate actions regarding Dokubo's statements.
