According to report, Donald Trump has ruled out the possibility of a second US presidential debate with his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris. The announcement came on Wednesday after Fox News offered to host another debate later this month, ahead of the November 5 election.
The former president took to his Truth Social platform, stating, "It is very late in the process, (early) voting has already begun - there will be no rematch!" He further justified his decision, adding, "Kamala stated clearly, yesterday, that she would not do anything different than Joe Biden, so there is nothing to debate."
The pair had previously debated once in September in a heated exchange, but despite discussions and suggestions by news outlets, a second showdown now appears off the table. Harris had initially proposed another debate hosted by CNN on October 23, which Trump declined.
Fox News sent letters to both campaigns on Wednesday, offering to host a debate on either October 24 or 27. Fox News Media President Jay Wallace wrote, "This would present an opportunity for each candidate to make his or her closing arguments."
Though Trump agreed to debates hosted by Fox and NBC in September, Harris did not accept those invitations. Despite receiving positive reviews for her performance in the initial debate, Harris expressed interest in a follow-up, but both campaigns ultimately failed to reach an agreement.
The candidates remain locked in a tight race, and this development means voters will not see another face-off before election day.
